BG’s Positively Speaking
Behaviour that spells S-U-C-C-E-S-S
Numerous behaviours can help us on our journey to success. Often, in our enthusiasm to reach our goals, we neglect those behaviours that contribute most to reaching our target. Taking the time to learn them will make the road forward easier and less frustrating. Developing good habits will also help you reach your goals faster. Following are six of the most critical behaviours we need to learn.
Action: Learn how to quickly analyze the situations that arise and take decisive action. Don’t procrastinate; make a decision and act on it. You may not always make the right decision, but the gains will outweigh the few errors you make.
Time Freedom: Eliminate time-wasting. Make lists and prioritize them. Do the most important things first, eliminating those time-consuming tasks that don’t move you toward your goals.
Positive Focus: Seek out positive input into moving yourself forward. Close your mind to the naysayers. Give yourself a positive uplift every day from CD’s, DVDs, books and magazines that reinforce a positive attitude. Find a mentor.
Willingness: Be willing to make the changes, no matter how challenging, that are needed. Learn new skills. Open up to new ideas, be patient and persistent, and you will make things happen.
Have a System: Get organized in your mind and in your actions. If you find this difficult to overcome, seek help from someone who can assist you in sorting things out.
Communication: Put yourself in touch with others in your circle of friends, acquaintances and associates. Network with people OUTSIDE your usual circles; it’s surprising what you can learn when input from an outside source.
Finally: Never be afraid to ask for help; there are people out there waiting to help YOU!

Marriage is not a word. It is a sentence… for life.
Marriage is like a violin; after the sweet music is over, the strings are attached.
Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore, marriage is an institution for the blind.
Marriage is an institution where he loses his Bachelor’s degree, and she gets her Master’s.

The Words We Use
A brief look at some of the words and phrases we use and their origins.
California: Though many will still argue about the origins of the “Golden State’s” name, most historians now believe it comes from a Spanish romance novel written by Montalvo in 1510. In his book, “The adventures of Esplandian,” the name was given to a fictional island glittering with gold and jewels. The Spanish invader Cortez is said to be the first to apply the name to what we now call California.
“Déjà vu,” Again?
The year is 1937, Hollywood, USA, and there is a flu epidemic (not a pandemic, which is much more severe). The movie business was in high gear, and the demand for new movies had the studios working flat out. Wanting to ensure their ability to satisfy that demand, the studios looked for ways to protect themselves, their actors and technicians, from the spread of the virus, within the movie-making community. The answer they came up with was that masks would be worn on set during rehearsals. After all, they had proven that 80% of flu germs would be blocked. There were no vaccines at the time. The 1937 “Look Magazine” cover shows Betty Furness and Stanley Morton (Later known as Dennis Morgan). They demonstrated how they rehearsed their on-screen kisses for their movie “Mama Steps Out.”
Actors could rehearse a kiss as many as 20 times before the shoot.
It kinda’ makes you wonder what all the fuss is about these days, in a Pandemic.
Legal Advice
A man went to his lawyer and told him, “My neighbour owes me $500, and he doesn’t want to pay up. What should I do?” “Do you have any proof?” asked the lawyer. “Nope,” replied the man. “Okay, then write him a letter asking him for the $1000 he owed you,” said the lawyer.
“But it’s only $500,” replied the man. “Precisely. That’s what he will reply, and we will have the proof we need to nail him.”
Golf Balls
A golfer goes into the pro shop and looks around, frowning. Finally, the pro asks, “Could I help you?”. “I can’t find any green golf balls,” the golfer complains. The pro looks all over the shop and through all the catalogues and finally calls the manufacturers and determines that, sure enough, there are no green golf balls. As the golfer walks out the door in disgust, the pro asks, “Before you go, could you tell me why you want green golf balls?”
“Well, obviously, because they would be so much easier to find in the sand traps!”
