BG’s Positively Speaking
Confronting Change
Some time ago, I was discussing with a friend that there was a need for change in their life and the fear and apprehensions they felt. After our conversation ended and we had parted company, I got to thinking about the discussion. I sent an email with four brief observations on change and our fear of it. After sending the email, I felt I should share these observations with others so that those ready to receive the message could benefit. Here they are …….
- “Most people want things to get better, but they don’t want anything to change. They want everything to stay the same, just be better.”
- “If we want things to get better we must change the way we think. This will change how we feel, that will change the way we speak. The way we speak will determine how we act, our actions will bring about the changes we seek in life.”
- “Fear not what others think, the person who stands above the crowd often becomes the target for the fears and frustrations of others.”
- “Those primary concern is about being liked will always be just one of the crowd.”
The biggest obstacles to making changes in our life are contained in our minds. Once we understand that life is constantly in flux, with or without us, we can then prepare to meet those changes head-on. Our bodies are in a state of perpetual evolution,.why should everything else be different? You can learn and master any new skills that are needed. Open your mind to the possibilities. You never know what will happen when you accept life’s changes and ………

At The Council Chambers
The town council had long debated acquiring a new fire truck for the community. Finally, the decision was made, and the purchase was approved. At the next council meeting, the mayor announced that the new fire truck had arrived. After a round of applause and much self-congratulation. The mayor called the chamber to order and asked the assembly, “What can we do with the old one?” After a few minutes of confusion, one voice could be heard above the others saying,? I’ve got a good idea; we keep it to answer all the false alarms.”
Zen-isms
1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.
2 The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt or a leaky tire.
3. It’s always darkest before dawn, so if you’re going to steal your neighbour’s newspaper, that’s the time to do it.
4. Don’t be irreplaceable. If you can’t be replaced, you can’t be promoted.
5. Always remember that you’re unique. Just like everyone else.

On April 10, 1912, The SS. Titanic set out on her Maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York. After stopping in Cherbourg, France, the four-story “unsinkable” ship set sail for Queenstown (now known as Cobh), Ireland, where it arrived around noon on April 11. The ship would remain off the coast of Queenstown for less than two hours as a couple tender boats transferred boarding and disembarking passengers to and from the ship. During this time, the last photographs of the Titanic were taken. The photo above is the last known picture of the vessel as it steamed away from Ireland on its fateful voyage. The picture was taken from the last tender, as it headed back to Queenstown, by first-class passenger Kate Odell. She had just disembarked with her family and others.
On April 14, 1912, at 11:37 pm. The ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic. She sank at 2:20 am. taking 1,517 of the 2,238 people aboard to their death.
There are several Titanic museums and attractions in the US, England and Canada. In Ontario, there are museums in Toronto and Niagara Falls. Halifax, Nova Scotia, where many survivors and victims were taken, also has a museum.

A majestic voice boomed through the gorge: “I will help you, my son, but first you must have faith in me.” “Yes, yes, I trust you!” cried the man. “Let go of the branch,” boomed the voice.
There was a long pause, and the man shouted again, “IS THERE ANYONE ELSE UP THERE I COULD TALK TO?”

I had hardly any hair on my head. I didn’t have the strength to walk across a room, and I had to be lifted out of bed.” “That’s wonderful!” said Bill. “How long have you been here?” “I was born here.”

The guy is thrilled and continues to drink. The mug never empties.
