Give Your Life a “Do-Over.”
During my time in the film and TV industry, there were many times I heard the call, “Cut. Let’s take it again from the top” or from some other suitable pick-up point. We knew that someone, probably the director, felt something wasn’t just right. Whether technical, visual or in the performance, we all had the chance to review and improve on what we had done in the previous ‘takes.’
There will be many opportunities to give ourselves a “Do-Over” during our life. To freshen life up and point it in new directions. We can press the “Refresh” button and begin again. We can “Take it from the top” or any place we restart.
A do-over will allow you to smooth out the bumps you encountered, massage your aspirations and reach out toward the goals you have set.
Start by reviewing where you are now: What has worked? What didn’t? Throw out what didn’t work. Don’t waste your time, energy and resources doing the same things again and expecting a different result. Instead, look at those things that worked. Is there something that can make them work better? There always is. Nothing is ever perfect.
Look for new ideas and new ways of doing something. Products, systems, ideas and ‘gizmos’ are introduced into the marketplace daily. Can you use any of them to improve your results? Put some of these new ideas into practice as you travel forward on your new path. Be on the lookout for new things to add as you go ahead. This concept works just as well when applied to personal or work life. One last tip, think of this as an Annual Check-up.
A Do-over Will Breathe New Life Into YOUR LIFE!
Unexpected
My wife asked me yesterday if I was planning anything special for our Wedding Anniversary. “I’m working on it,” I replied. She responded with a warm and cheerful smile. This was entirely unexpected. I expected her to be “ticked off” since I had just told her I had to work that day.

Dinner at the Monastery
Lost on a rainy night, a nun stumbles across a monastery and requests shelter there. Fortunately, she was just in time for dinner and was treated to the best fish and chips she’s ever had. After dinner, she goes into the kitchen to thank the chefs. She is met by two brothers, “Hello, I’m Brother Michael, and this is Brother Charles.” “I’m very pleased to meet you,” said the nun, “I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful dinner. The fish and chips were the best I’ve ever tasted. Out of curiosity, who cooked what?” Brother Charles replied, “Well, I’m the fish friar.” She turns to the other brother and says, “Then you must be…?” “Yes, I’m the chip monk.”

Andrew Clark, of Caledonia, Michigan, comes from a long line of Y chromosomes. For 138 years, no girls have been born to his family — until St. Patrick’s Day, when Clark and his wife, Carolyn, welcomed Audrey Marie. Going back to 1885 and Clark’s great-great-grandfather, only sons have been born to the family. “It was just joy, just that she was here and healthy,” Carolyn said. “It made it even more special that it was a girl.”
Holy Water
One morning a man came into the church on crutches. He stopped in front of the holy water, put some on both legs and then threw away his crutches. An altar boy witnessed the scene and then ran into the rectory to tell the priest what he’d just seen.”Son, you’ve just witnessed a miracle!” the priest said. “Tell me, where is this man now?””Flat on his back, over by the holy water!” the boy informed him.
Boyfriend Trouble
A teenager brings her new boyfriend home to meet her parents. They’re appalled by his haircut, his tattoos, and his piercings. Later, the girl’s mom says, “Dear, he doesn’t seem to be a very nice boy.” “Oh, please, Mom!” says the daughter. “If he wasn’t nice, would he be doing 500 hours of community service?”
Kidding Around
On a Miami to Chicago flight was a lively youngster who nearly drove everyone crazy. He ran up and down the aisle when the flight attendant started serving coffee. He ran smack into her, knocking a cup of coffee out of her hand and onto the floor. As he watched her clean up the mess, she glanced up at the boy and said, ‘”Look, why don’t you go and play outside?”
