Where The Dream Resides
I’ve written often about the importance of a dream. The fact is that having one is an essential ingredient in a successful life. A dream need not be one of fame, fortune or greatness. It’s more important that the dream be yours, not someone else’s dream that you borrow or have “latched on” to.
We often fool ourselves into believing that we are moving toward our dream when in reality, we are moving toward another person’s dream. It may be that of your boss who enlisted your help in fulfilling theirs. There’s nothing wrong with this. In fact, none of us can reach our own dreams without help from others. It is, however, wrong to substitute another person’s dreams for our own, resulting in the “loss” of our dream. So, how do we find our “lost” dream? To re-discover our dreams, we must accept two essential guidelines:
1) We must realize that the dream resides in us, not outside us, not in someone else, but deep inside us.
2) Dreams don’t just “show up.”To unlock our dream, we must take the time, make an effort, and dig deep inside ourselves. To ask questions about what we want. The size of our dream is not essential. It’s the dream itself. Once we find our “lost” dream, large or small, we must take ownership of it and seek ways of moving towards that dream. Even the most modest dreams will add lustre to everyday life. The fulfilment of even a tiny step towards our dream will become “magical,” life will feel fuller and have more purpose.
No matter what it takes to find your dream, it will pay dividends because…

Fast Food
An older man walks into a library and heads to the front desk for assistance. The librarian smiles at the old man and says, “How may I help you today, sir.” The man says, in a loud voice, “I’ll have a cheeseburger, french fries and a small soda, please.” The librarian replies sternly, “Sir, this is the library.” The old make shrugs and whispers, “I’ll have a cheeseburger, french fries and a small soda, please.”

The New Phys. Ed. Teacher.
Noticing a boy at the end of the field standing alone while all the other kids are running around having fun kicking a ball. The teacher, taking pity on him, decides to speak. Are you OK?” the teacher asks. “Yes,” the boy replies. “You can go and play with the other kids, you know,” the teacher says. “No, it’s probably best I stay here,” he says. “Why’s that?” says the teacher. The boy looks at the teacher incredulously and says, “because I’m the goalie!”

Did You Know?
The Cleaning Lady (Author Unknown)
Our professor gave us a pop quiz during my second month of college. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:
“What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?”
Surely, this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50’s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
“Absolutely,” said the professor. “In your career, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say “hello.”
I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned that her name was Dorothy.
In Memoriam
Joe passed away. His will provided $30,000 for an elaborate funeral. As the last guests departed the affair, his wife, Helen, turned to her oldest friend.” Well, I’m sure Joe would be pleased,” she said. “I’m sure you’re right,” replied Jody, who lowered her voice and leaned in close. “How much did this really cost?” “All of it,” said Helen. “Thirty thousand.” “No!” Jody exclaimed. “I mean, it was very nice, but $30,000?” Helen answered. “The funeral was 6,500. I donated $500 to the church. The wake, food and drinks were another $500. The rest went for the memorial stone.” Jody computed quickly. “$22,500 for a memorial stone? My God, how big is it?” “Two and a half carats.”
Testing The Principle
An old law on the books of the Conrad Public School District in Montana stipulates that; a school principal is responsible for feeding and tending a horse if a student rides it to school. So 12 students at Conrad High School put the statute to the test, riding their steeds up to the school and leaving them in the care of Principal Raymond DeBruycker for the school day. DeBruycker had no time to comment as he kept his charges watered and fed and (presumably) mucked the parking lot.
Proper Table Etiquette
Two guys were sitting at the bar. One said, “A lady has invited me to brunch tomorrow, but I know nothing of proper table etiquette.” “What do you want to know?” asked the other.”Well, um… for example, what goes better with waffles, red or white wine?” “Is it too late to cancel?”
