BG’s Positively Speaking

Personal Growth

As you go through life, your personal Growth should be your constant companion. A journey of self-improvement, self-awareness, and self-realization, expanding your knowledge, developing new skills, and enhancing your overall well-being. Your journey will be unique and governed by personal experiences, goals, and aspirations. An important ingredient of personal Growth is self-awareness. Understanding your strengths and weaknesses and the values and beliefs that help you make positive decisions and set realistic goals. Regular self-reflection, such as journaling or meditation, can aid in this process, allowing you to gain deeper insights into your thoughts and behaviours. Another crucial element is Setting your goals. A Clear picture of what you want to achieve will give you direction and motivation, helping you to focus your efforts and measure your progress. Whether learning a new language, improving your physical fitness, or advancing your career, setting measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-limited goals will significantly enhance your personal growth journey.

Embracing a mindset of lifelong Continuous learning is also important. Learning keeps you adaptable and open to new opportunities. This can involve formal education, such as taking courses or earning certifications, and informal learning through reading, workshops, or meaningful conversations.

Something else that is essential to personal Growth is Building resilience. Life is full of ups and downs, challenges and setbacks. You need to develop the ability to bounce back. Maintain a positive attitude, be patient and persistent and seek help from others when required. Personal Growth is about becoming the best YOU that you can be. It’s a lifelong process that requires dedication, patience, and a willingness to step out of your comfort zone. You can lead a more fulfilling and purposeful life by embracing this journey.

Personal Growth = Being the Best You Can Be!

Editors Quote Book

“People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made.”

Joan Rivers

Quirky Canada

Punkeydoodles Corners: It’s often hard to realize that you are in Punkeydoodles Corners, even when you have arrived there. The reason is that the signs marking the entry to the community close to Stratford, Ontario, are often stolen as souvenirs. There is one sign that never leaves, however — it’s a monument that testifies to the visit of former prime minister Joe Clark, who spent Canada Day in the little hamlet in 1982.

How Punkeydoodles Corners gained such a notable name is still being settled as a matter of history. According to the Oxford County Library, several stories explain how it happened. One tells of a German innkeeper who mispronounced the words “Yankee Doodle.” Another suggests that “punkeydoodle” is a Victorian word that means to waste time.

A Smart Student

An old sea captain put a young naval student through the paces. “What would you do if a sudden storm sprang up on the starboard?” “Throw out an anchor, Sir.” “What would you do if another storm sprang up aft?” “Throw out another anchor, Sir.” “And if another terrific storm sprang up forward, what would you do?” “Throw out another anchor.” “Hold on,” said the Captain, “where are you getting all your anchors from?” “From the same place you’re getting your storms, sir.”

If The Hat Fits?

In a hat shop, the saleslady gushed, “Qh, you simply must have that hat. It makes you look ten years younger. “Then I don’t want it, ” the customer retorted. I can’t afford to lose ten years every time I take my hat off.”

“Time To Say Goodbye”

This song is considered the most popular single ever recorded. It was first recorded as a solo by Andrea Bocelli, who started his musical career as a piano player/ lounge singer and rose to become one of the top Operatic tenors in the world. One year later, he recorded it as a duet with Sarah Brightman. She had started her journey as a dancer and singer and had released several disco singles. She rose to international fame when she originated the role of Christine Daee in The Phantom of The Opera. This duet has sold over twelve million copies. This live version is from Brightman’s first full concert recording, “Sarah Brightman: In Concert”, from London’s Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paul Bateman. Anger Versus Exasperation

A young girl writing a school paper came to her father. She asked, “Dad, what is the difference between anger and exasperation?” The father replied, “It is mostly a matter of degree. Let me show you what I mean.” The father went to the telephone and randomly dialled a number. To the man who answered the phone, he said, “Hello, is Melvin there?” The man answered, “There is no one living here named Melvin. Why don’t you learn to look up numbers before you dial”. “See,” said the father to his daughter. “That man was not a bit happy with our call. He was probably very busy with something and we annoyed him. Now watch….” The father redialed the number. “Hello, is Melvin there?” asked the father. “Now look here!” came the heated reply. “You just called this number and I told you that there is no Melvin here! You’ve got a lot of guts calling again!” The receiver slammed down hard. The father turned to his daughter and said, “You see, that was anger. Now I’ll show you what exasperation means.” He dialed the same number, and when a violent voice roared, “Hello!” The father calmly said, “Hello, this is Melvin. Have there been any calls for me?”

The Weigh Scales

A lady noticed her husband standing on the bathroom scale, sucking in his stomach.

Thinking he was trying to weigh less with this maneuver, she commented, “I don’t think that’s going to help.” “Sure it does,” he said. “It’s the only way I can see the numbers.”

Emily

Little Emily complained to her mother that her stomach hurt. Her mother replied, “That’s because it’s empty. Maybe you should try putting something in it.” The next day, the pastor was over at Emily’s family’s house for lunch. He mentioned having his head hurt, to which Emily immediately replied, “That’s because it’s empty. Maybe you should try putting something in it.”
